Manchester Health Department
HNH Foundation supports healthy people in healthy places. The built environment, or physical characteristics of a place, has a strong influence on the health of people in their community. Creating safe environments for children and families to walk and bike and gather with neighborhood members increases opportunities for physical activity and helps to support a sense of community.
Success Story: The Manchester Health Department is working with residents, community organizations and city departments to make changes for safe walking and areas for play in four center-city neighborhoods.
