
Key Provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
In March 2010, Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), a landmark piece of legislation with several key provisions relating to children's health. It contains seven provisions that directly affect HNHfoundation's mission. We have listed the seven provisions below. 3) PREVENTIVE CARE SERVICES KEY PROVISION: Insurers must cover preventative care for children--well-child visits, vision and hearing tests, development screenings--without requiring co-payments, deductibles or co-insurance.
4) SPENDING LIMITS KEY PROVISION: Insurance companies cannot limit their expenditures for a child on their health plan over a lifetime. Annual limits will no longer be allowed after the year 2014.
